We provide a centre for education about world poverty, trade and the links with our own lives.
Montgomery Centre
The Montgomery Development Education Centre strives to be a place of
education on issues of poverty and trade. Founded in memory of Helen
Montgomery, the Centre gives a global dimension to teaching, community
work, youth group or other church activities. We also supply
information to anyone interested in justice, peace, world development
and the environment.
Our Aims:
To enable people to understand the links between their own lives and those of people throughout the world;
To increase understanding of the economic, social, political and environmental forces that shape our lives;
To develop skills, attitudes and values that enable people to work
together to bring change and take control of their own lives; and
To work towards achieving a more just world in which power and resources are equally shared by all.
Our Resources Include:
More than 800 books, photo packs, videos, slides, and posters available for loan;
Activity sessions for schools; and
Workshops for community groups.
In 2007, The Montgomery Development Education Centre will find its
new home in the East end of the Mither Kirk. Until then, we are based
at 120 Rosemount Place, Aberdeen AB25 2YW. Telephone us on
01224-620111 or email at mdec.abdn@virgin.net for further information or to make an appointment for a visit.
We are open Thursday evening during school term from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
