The Mither Kirk Project symbol explained

silver bird symbolFrom the earliest times, the church has used the pelican in her piety as a symbol of Christís sacrificial giving. There are eight pelicans in various monuments and treasures around the Kirk of St Nicholas. The Mither Kirk Project has adopted this symbol to reflect the way the church seeks to open up the building for the greater good of the community of Aberdeen.

Did you know that the architects of the colonnade, John Smith, and the East Kirk, Archibald Simpson, are both buried in the kirkyard.
