The Third World Centre is a Christian business initiative run on and in support of fair trading principles.

The Centre is an outlet for the sale of goods such as crafts and food from developing nations, as well as a resource centre for development education and global citizenship. It works in partnership with Traidcraft and aid agencies such as Christian Aid, SCAIF and UNICEF.

It has been open for business in the Kirk since 1983 and in 1987, was registered as a private company. In 2007, we will be moving from our long-standing home in St Mary’s Chapel, upstairs to a purpose-built facility in the East end of the Mither Kirk.

The Centre is run by a staff of volunteers from the Kirk and local aid agencies and organizations, who have a commitment to the ethics and principles of fair trade. If you are interested in being a volunteer for a minimum of three hours a week at the Third World Centre, please contact us on 01224-645650 or see the Volunteers page.

Opening Hours:
11:00 to 15:00 - Monday and Tuesday
10:00 to 16:00 - Wednesday to Saturday

Did you know that the East Kirk and spire were largely destroyed by fire in 1874.Did you know that the architect Jame Gibbs gave (free) the design for the rebuilding of the West Kirk. The building was dedicated in 1755.
